Nepenthes es una planta carnívora tropical semitrepadora perteneciente al género Nepenthaceae. Generalmente, encuentra su hábitat ideal en las selvas tropicales y los bosques montañosos del archipiélago malayo, Borneo, Nueva Guinea, Indonesia, Filipinas y Australia Occidental, donde crece utilizando el zarcillo que conecta la hoja con el ascidio para adherirse a la vegetación circundante y alcanzar mayor altura (algunas pueden alcanzar hasta 15 metros). Algunas especies también se pueden observar en Madagascar, Sri Lanka y partes de India y China.
